He is my favorite music director. The Tamil song ‘Na Na’ has been shortlisted for nomination in the original song category for the 82nd Academy Awards.
The number is special for Rahman as it also marks his six-year-old son Alim’s debut as a singer.
The song will be competing with 62 other songs from eligible feature-length motion pictures for nomination, which will be announced February 2, reported the official website of the Academy awards.
‘Na Na’ was written by Rahman along with rapper Blaaze and Vivian Chaix and sung by the trio along with Alim, Clinton and Dominic.
The musician who had created history by becoming the first Indian to win two Oscars is in the running for the coveted prize for the second consecutive year.
Last year his composition ‘Jai Ho’ had won the top prize in the ‘Best Original Song’ and Rahman had taken the trophy for ‘Best Soundtrack’ for his compositions in the film ’Slumdog Millionaire.’
Directed by Emmy nominated Peter Billingsley, ‘Couples Retreat’ revolves around four couples trying to reconnect with each other through a tropical-island vacation.
The film stars Vince Vaughn, Kristin Davis among others. This article is sourced from " The Hindu " daily newspaper. To know more about A.R , pls click here

‘Couples Retreat’ Crosses $100m at Box Office
November 15, 2009

Vince Vaughn’s sole 2009 film, Couples Retreat, did not receive great notices from critics, but a favorable release window and excellent box office “legs” has propelled the ensemble comedy past the $100 million mark in North America. After the film’s sixth weekend, box office estimates are putting the total gross at $102 million domestically.

Perhaps aided by lack of competition from traditional comedies, the film has shown strong staying power in theatres. In fact, per-screen average actually went up last weekend (unheard of for a film in it’s fifth week of release).

Couples Retreat has also taken in over $20 million overseas according to Box Office Mojo and is the fifth film starring Vince Vaughn to cross the $100m line (after Dodgeball, Wedding Crashers, The Break-Up, and Four Christmases).
