Ignite ’08
The NIF has tied up with the Central Board of Secondary Education that has a network of over 8,000 schools across the country to participate in the event.
Over 10,000 schools and 50,000 students are expected to participate in the six-month innovation festival.
4 Segments:
The competition is divided into four segments. The first and second segments are about identifying problems in everyday life and suggesting solutions to them.
Project:
Participants should develop original solutions to the problems identified by them. If they have not been able to convert he solutions into project, they can even submit the idea.
Financial Support:
The foundation will give financial and mentoring support to complete the projects. The foundation will also apply for a patent on behalf of the student for deserving projects.
Traditional Knowledge:
The third segment encourages children to document traditional knowledge and practices followed in the country especially in areas such as health, child care, women’s problems, clothes, cosmetics, hair care, construction and food processing.
Outstanding Attempts:
Students have to scout for innovations and outstanding attempts to solve problems, even if unsuccessful, in their neighbourhood as the fourth and the final segment.
